This highly practical workshop provides hands on experience for any photographer wanting to learn the basics of how to use studio lighting. Whether you want to set up your own studio, take family portraits, enhance your photographic knowledge or simply have a fun and informative day with like-minded photographers - then this workshop is for you!
This one day course is designed for photographers with little or no previous experience of using studio lights and will provide you with the skills required to get started or for attending more advanced workshops. Numbers are limited to allow close personal attention (minimum number of students 4 - maximum 8).
What the course will cover:

General studio safety.

The differences between tungsten and strobe lighting.

The strobe mono block and adjusting the strobe light intensity.

Softboxes, umbrellas, spots and more.

Why automatic exposure does not always work.

Why use manual mode.

Setting up your camera to use manual mode.

Triggering strobe lights.
-
Using a light meter to determine the exposure and using the histogram.

Taking your first strobe light pictures.

How to control shadows and a lot more pictures with various lighting options.

Even more hands on work.

Tips on how to get started on a budget will be provided during the course.

What you need to bring with you:

A camera. A DSLR is recommended but an SLR or a compact that includes a manual mode can also be used. You can share with a friend if required.

If you have any extra lenses or an external flash bring them with you.

A note pad and pen to record notes, tips and camera settings etc.

Your camera instructions if you may need them.

Ensure you have sufficient charged batteries/spare batteries and memory cards.
